Outrage is fine, as long as it follows the consensus

I'm so angry!

Do you find those online ranters annoying? The serial protesters. Do some just take it too far?

Some causes are popular, others not. ie, Pro Palestinian versus against antisemitism.

(Shouldn't be any reason why people can't support both. Jews worldwide are not responsible or even support, what the Israeli government does. It's like saying all Westerners worldwide are responsible for the actions of the American Government).

Hence this poem, which was actually written in 2018 and nothing to do with the aforementioned example. It's part of it anyway. What matters in your interpretation.

No Hawkers Please

Survey Wreckage

No need to record evidence

Imprinted like an engraved tablet.

A mish-mash attempt

At a human Undo

That can never be.

Undercover of darkness

And booze

There’s no recourse

No recriminations

A mere satisfaction

In stirring the pot

Grinding hypocrisy

Under heel.

Until tomorrow

Brings the sting of daylight

Eradicating shadows

Leaving no hideaway.

Popularism survives

And in the end

I lost

Truth, context

And the Individualistic way

Not Required Here.

When I was young, I was also very idealistic. That's normal for many young people. I saw the world in black and white. Very pro Gay, anti-apartheid, pro-Aboriginal people, anti-nukes, etc. Many protests too.

(I still care about those issues of course. It's not the point).

I'm a Humanist, rather than set on any particular agenda. Whenever there's injustice or someone suffering, I feel for them or that issue. Some are very hardcore on a particular theme, and neglect to be aware of their own hatred of others, or the injustice that might occur in carrying out their agendas. Like the example mentioned at the top.

Far right and far left extremism are the same. Some issues are very apparent yet the world is more grey than extreme. There's more than one side. There's twenty. The media rarely go into detail or present more than one side. (I've worked in news and current affairs so aware of how much research etc is actually done, and how each media outlet, especially today, are biased towards a particular political leaning).

It's such a big topic, and you have you're own viewpoint and perhaps that's getting away from the poem which is really about individual thought, so will just leave it at that.

Now I'm going on. Is that a rant?  Ha ha God I hope not.  🙂

I'm now working for the Russians. Truth!

First two scripts are now BrightSide Videos. Made in Russia!

To Russia With Love

As you may recall, I began working for the YouTube Channel BrightSide in late November.

The first two scripts I wrote in December have now been produced. See below.

Despite the American voiceover and style, the company is based in Russia. Everyone I have been dealing with, and there's a lot, are Russian.

85% of their workforce are from all around the world. I have no idea who sourced the stock footage or who created the animation but they would likely be remote workers. They have the toughest job. As an editor, I can see how much work they put in. Huge!

The style is a little cheesy but it's meant to be. It has to be mildly educational but mostly entertainment.

The First Script

The Second

Don't believe a word I say

I'm required to write two scripts a week but I've written 6 in total so far. I've just been too busy with my video editing work and to be honest, the Brightside pay is nowhere near enough to support me. I get paid per script and it can take 8-10 hours due to the research required. (I spread it out).

Worth noting too, that when I begin, I have no idea what I'm writing about. I try to get everything right but like journalists, I'm simply collating information. I'm not an expert! That's why it pays to be skeptical of everything you see and read, unless by an expert in that field. I worked a decade in TV News and Current Affairs. They can get it wrong too. Many aren't that smart. Besides, everything is slanted a particular way. Its more about what's left out than what's left in.

Future BrightSide Videos

The other scripts I've submitted and are in the production phase are;

The giant ancient Monster from the Deep
Flight Attendants Reveal What the Crew Does on an Empty Flight
What’s Killing The Galaxies Next Door
Iceberg 73x bigger than Manhattan travels

Coming Soon,

The Front Cover for my next novel!

Have a great week!

(March update - Not that all Russians are to blame for their government's conduct, and that they are also victims of their countries propaganda machine, I still could not work alongside Putin sympathisers).

Video Tribute - Vietnam War 1965 - 1970

I was reading the excellent novel Matterhorn, written by a Vet. I took to re-watching one of my favourite movies, Platoon. I was compelled to make this video.

(All images are from the video)

I was working it for several weeks before Anzac Day, the 25th of April. I worked on it furiously to finish it in time.

It's dedicated to my Uncle who served in 1971 and to my Grandfather who fought in the jungles of New Guinea in World War II and returned forever changed.
It also acknowledges the North Vietnamese Vets and especially the civilians who deeply suffered.

It's not a short video but I urge you to watch to the end as there is a type of narrative and the last few minutes are the most poignant.

Music from the period.

Watch Here:

Footage was sourced from different documentaries, official War Videos, private film footage, News stories etc. Most of it is from America but also Australia and North Vietnam.
