I came across this version when looking at the early versions of the Caged Without Walls trailers.

How are you doing?
I was very keen for the release of my debut poetry collection Caged Without Walls in 2013 and made a few trailers, trying to get the right mix.
Here are a couple of early, very different trailers that have never been seen publicly until now. As it's the 10th Anniversary I thought I'd share them with you.

10 Anniversary - Caged Without Walls
It's the 10th Anniversary of my debut poetry collection
Caged Without Walls
The title is an analysis of what it means to live with depression and anxiety.
Some of the content is about my own struggles but many of the others are based on many other experiences and observations. My poetry is accessible. They're like little stories.
It's not as depressing as it sounds and it's dirt cheap on my website now. $12.95 (selling it as a loss).

It was my second book, after Bottomless River, also published through Ginninderra Press. I had a book launch. It was all exciting at the time and I thought for sure it would lead to having my novels picked up by a major publisher. Sadly, it did not happen. It's more about actual connections. Emails get you nowhere. Still, the book exists and for that I'm grateful.

Three teenage friends are growing up carefree in the country when something goes terribly wrong, setting in motion events for the next twenty years.
The debut Novella
Based on my country upbringing, Bottomless River is a decade old this month, June 2022.
It was an exciting time to finally have something significant published, thanks to Gininderra Press. While a small book, being a novella, it meant a lot to me to be acknowledged in some form after years of quiet toil.
I have put together a new video to celebrate, combining the original two trailers. Below that are some photos of the book launch in June 2012 plus how you can read it for FREE.

The initial draft of Bottomless River was hand written on a train going to and from work over several days in 2006. It was a simple story then. Every year it was given another draft, grew in scope until it was finally submitted in May 2011. A month later they came back with a yes. It took a further 11 months to get it released.

The writing of Bottomless River
A novella

The initial draft of Bottomless River was hand written on a train going to and from work over several days in 2006. It was simply a short story then. I tend to get enthused about most things I write, but I let them sit for a while before typing them up and begin the redrafting process. It’s then that I can determine whether it’s any good or not.
I liked the story. It was personal and there was something emotional and raw about it. I spent more time on it and it grew. I let my partner read it and she liked it, and she is quite critical of my writing. She pushed me to get it out there. I searched around for somewhere to publish it but it was too long to qualify as a short story and too short for a novel. Most publishers don’t print novellas, for reasons unknown. You’re guess is as good as mine. Perhaps the cost of printing them makes them expensive and they don’t believe that people will invest in something with a limited amount of pages. I disagree. I think in this time strapped age that they’re due for a major comeback. (A novella is usually between 10,000 and 40,000 words). Some famous writers wrote novellas, including Franz Kafka, Albert Camus and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Did you know that Animal Farm, Dr. Jeykll and Mr Hyde, The Old Man and the Sea, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Of Mice and Men were all novellas?

A long genesis for a little book with a big heart.
