Melbourne - Wartime to 1930's

This is the first in a series of 10 Nostalgia Videos. I'll post a new one every month.

The vision sourced (mostly) from YouTube. I then re-edited it and added music. In some instances I 'colourised' the footage.

I made them for the Nursing Home I work at to screen before the weekly matinee movie. We begin with a short one, just four minutes.

I hope you enjoy them. It's wonderful to have such documentation of the past. (One is set in the U.S. The rest in Australia, from 1910 to 1970).

A 91 yo's journey to her deserted childhood homes

Hi,

My Grandmother Nell, (born 1926) was brought up in a farming environment in country Victoria, Australia.

We spent a day going to see her first house and then to a farm where her grandmother, and later Uncle and Aunty lived. Both houses are abandoned now.
Complete with a few old photos to give you a fuller historical context.

It was my first time to these places. It turned out to be quite a moving and interesting experience.

If you don't want to watch it all, there's a nice photo montage at 14 min set to music. But I recommend you do. There's some interesting stories and beautiful music along the way.
