I would have enjoyed this at ten too. I wrote it for my stepchildren originally.
CheersAnthony J. I could see the child I used to be enjoying this story.Graham Clementshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06430135062211828206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703135896090475473.post-92100333835914053002011-08-09T14:26:40.451+10:002011-08-09T14:26:40.451+10:00This comment has been removed by the author.Graham Clementshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06430135062211828206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703135896090475473.post-2981511976610326982011-08-07T14:10:16.965+10:002011-08-07T14:10:16.965+10:00It's good Anthony! An interesting approach for a childre...Hi Anthony!

An interesting approach for a children's story? What age group is this intended for?
OK. Here's my thoughts and straight to the point. I hope you don't mind my directness...
I would omit the first 5 paragraphs. I had to re-read them twice.

Perhaps begin with, 'Filip was an expert in the development of fossilized fuels.'

For me, this is where the story begins.
The first 5 paragraphs had me wondering if I wanted to continue reading. It bored me. Then when I got to your 6th para, and then, and only then, did I start to get interested in your story.

From here, the more I read, the more I wanted to read. I wanted to know what was to become of Filip and wanted to know more about the Queen and her imposing figure, her sharp intelligence and her vicious nature. I'm intrigued by the Queen. By her power and how she provokes those around her, people like Filip.

For me, my initial interpretation of this story was of Filip being the star character, but in essence, the Queen is the one that captured my attention more than Filip. Unfortunately, Filip (which I read as FLIP - no idea why) seemed to fade away in the story and the more I read the more the Queen became the dominant figure in it.

Was this your intention?

Furthermore, I want to add that I do enjoy your ability to write to a varied audience. You're like a jack of all trades in writing, lol. Your writing skill and imagination impresses me. I do hope that a publisher will see these qualities you posses in your writing soon. Good luck with it all!

GinaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703135896090475473.post-75559796756828787952011-08-05T10:19:45.013+10:002011-08-05T10:19:45.013+10:00Thank you nadeemalim and Sally. It means a lot. I'd love to get this out into the hands of those who would enjoy it the most, the kids. Just have to find a publisher who's willing. It's very tough right now for a new author to break in to a shrinking market. So frustrating.

Cheers.

=]Anthony J. I kept hoping there would be a bit more to read. This is a really exciting story, one that I know 11 year old Louis would love - a page turner!Sally Corvininoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703135896090475473.post-16430496731156235672011-08-02T11:20:23.952+10:002011-08-02T11:20:23.952+10:00The detailed descriptions in this chapter are amaz...The detailed descriptions in this chapter are amazing and I love how you build the suspense by describing Filip's articulate plan. While this is a work of fantasy I do see some truths in it: insects have superior survival skills when it comes to surviving under harsh environmental conditions. Like they say if there were a nuclear explosion cockroaches would still survive. However the human intelligence also deserves great respect as the Queen learns. I also really like the way you spell the names of the characters, it makes them more unique.nadeemalimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15001011080989414552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703135896090475473.post-9905960385935587042011-07-30T20:01:56.269+10:002011-07-30T20:01:56.269+10:00Cheers Niranjan.
